The value of hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting and feeling are often taken for granted until one or more of those important tools start to deteriorate in some way. The ability to hear, as well as to see make life experiences more rewarding and certainly more enjoyable. The partial loss of hearing dramatically changes how life is perceived and choices that were once made quickly, become an effort<span id="more-404"></span> due to hearing loss. Hearing aids have been around for centuries in some form, but most people found them bulky, burdensome and annoying. People who decided to use expensive custom fitted hearing aids, found themselves waiting weeks for it to be ready and then it would have to be adjusted from time to time, in order for it to function properly. New technology in hearing aids has solved those problems by introducing instant-fit hearing aids.</p>
<p> Instant-fit hearing aids are usually in-the-ear hearing aids although they don’t have to be. They are manufactured using an automated assembly system and are built with standard housings and are covered with soft flexible ear tips that vary in size. Instead of customizing the hearing aid in the factory, the instant-fit hearing aid is customized in the hearing specialist’s office. Instant-fit hearing aids have been going through the development stage for the last ten years. The first step was to create digital programmable aids, which allowed the hearing specialist to adjust the electro acoustics in the office. The next step was using pre-made cores and soft sleeves which eliminated the need for the costly hard-plastic hearing aid shells. When those two steps were achieved, the hearing aid specialist could adjust and fit the hearing aid in the office and that eliminated the need for the manufacturer to get involved after the hearing aid was produced and sold.</p>
<p> Purchasing an instant-fit hearing aid is like buying off the rack clothing. Minor adjustments might have to be made after the purchase, but the cost advantage is greater than buying custom made clothing. The instant-fit technology in hearing aids is here to stay. Manufacturers are improving their quality and performance. Consumers are taking advantage of their lower retail price. Custom hearing aids will still be important in the hearing loss market, because not everyone has a normal size ear canal. If the ear canal is abnormally shaped or is very small, a custom hearing aid with a factory customized shell is the only option at this point.</p>
<p> If the ear canal is a normal size, the choice between a custom fit or i<a rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" rel="external nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.hearingaidsaver.co.uk/types/instant-fit-hearing-aids.aspx">nstant-fit hearing aid</a> comes down to where the consumer wants to spend the money. An instant-fit hearing aid&#8217;s digital signal processing devise can be put into a custom made hearing aid, but the cost is much higher. Some instant-fit hearing aids also have ear tips that are disposable. These ear tips have been designed to collect cerumen and as long as the consumer has the ability to change the ear tips, they are another option. The disposable ear tips may be less expensive in the short term, but for long term use a non-disposable instant-fit hearing aid is still the better choice. Instant-fit hearing aids will continue to improve and drop in price as the technology advances. With all the development taking place in hearing aids, the designer versions of instant-fits must be just a sound away.</p>

<p>How will you know if you have a good life and a fit body? When you visit your doctor, do you ever bother to ask him that question? Good life and fitness are somehow synonymous, but not all people will agree to that. If you&#8217;re fit, then you&#8217;re bound to have a good life in terms of being healthy and not being prone to illnesses. If you have a good life, it doesn&#8217;t necessarily mean that you&#8217;re already fit, because chances are, you&#8217;re one of the many people living an unhealthy lif<span id="more-396"></span>estyle. </p>
<p>So how will you find out if you have a good life and fitness altogether? </p>
<p>First, define what good life means to you. For some people it may mean having all the luxuries in life or having lots of money. Other people may think of good life as living a healthy life. If the latter is your definition of good life, regardless if you have lots of money or not, then you chose the better one. If this is your life&#8217;s belief, then you might be physically fit as well. </p>
<p>If you have a good and healthy life, you will have the chance to earn more money because you seldom get sick. You can work for long hours if you like, and you can buy all the things that you want. Whereas, if you&#8217;re not healthy, you will always get sick and most of your expenses will be for medications and other medical costs. </p>
<p>Living a good and healthy life will always mean that you&#8217;re into fitness activities. Fitness exercises are great ways to stay physically fit and healthy. You can join health clubs or fitness gyms if you like, if you think that is the way to stay on track. Some people prefer to do their exercises at home, and that is quite convenient because you can do it at any given time, and on any part of the house. </p>
<p>The next step is to evaluate your lifestyle now. Are you currently involved in fitness exercises? Do you have vices? Do you often get sick? Ask yourself all the important questions to determine your health&#8217;s state at present. If you think that you&#8217;re not having a good healthy life, then don&#8217;t you think that it&#8217;s high time that you change your unhealthy ways? </p>
<p>How will you go about the process? Well, it may sound easy to say that you can start any time you like. But this can happen especially if you&#8217;re really determined to go for a good and fit life. Start changing your unhealthy ways gradually because it&#8217;s quite impossible to change overnight. Little by little, you will notice the changes taking place, and you will thank yourself for it. </p>
<p>If you have difficulty in changing your eating habits, you can seek the help of a dietician so that you can be provided with a sample of healthy menus that you can eat everyday. Purchase cookbooks and it would be best to prepare your meals if you have the time. </p>
<p>Fitness exercises are easy to do like walking, running, jumping, and doing push ups, step ups, lunges, and many other exercises. By doing them the right way, you can burn a lot of unwanted fats and these are great cardiovascular exercises as well.</p>

<p>Many people want to improve their physical fitness levels.  However, they often make the excuses that they don&#8217;t know how or they don&#8217;t have the time.  In this article I outline three ways you can implement fitness training into your daily routine.</p>
<p>1) LIFESTYLE CHANGE:- One of the easiest ways to improve your current fitness levels is to make small, positive changes to your daily routine.  Specifically, you need to improve your diet and your exercise routine. <span id="more-388"></span> As I have mentioned, these changes do not have to be large.  If you make small changes to your lifestyle at regular intervals these will soon build up to become large changes which yield significant results.</p>
<p>One way you could change your eating habits is by eating one less takeaway a week and substituting this for a healthier, home cooked meal.  Then in the second week you could build on this by eating a salad for lunch once or twice a week.  You can alter your exercise habits in a similar way.  In the first week use stairs instead of elevators.  In week two participate in a thirty minute brisk walk twice a week.  As you can see these small but positive lifestyle changes collectively become significant changes which can lead to improved fitness levels.</p>
<p>2) FITNESS EQUIPMENT:- Another great way to improve your fitness levels is to take advantage of the large selection of fitness equipment on the market.  When choosing fitness equipment you first have to decide what your fitness targets are.  Do you want to improve your cardiovascular fitness?  If so then a treadmill, rowing machine or exercise bike will be most suitable for you.  Do you want to tone and strengthen your muscles?  Then free weights and weight machines are what you should be using.</p>
<p>You also need to consider whether you want to purchase the fitness equipment for yourself or take advantage of the fitness equipment at the gym.  Both have their own distinct advantages and disadvantages.  Owning your own fitness equipment means that you can use it whenever you want, within the comfort of your own home.  However, unless you have a lot of storage space and money you will be unable to purchase the range of equipment that a gym can provide.  The gym can provide you with a large range of equipment for a relatively low cost.  However, when the gym is full you will have to wait for machines and you will also have to spend time commuting to and from the gym.</p>
<p>Whatever you choose regarding your fitness equipment you must consider one important factor.  Fitness equipment will assist you in your exercise but it will not do it for you.  You still have to put in the time and effort that leads to improved fitness levels.</p>
<p>3) FITNESS TRAINER:- Taking advantage of a fitness trainer is a great way to improve your fitness levels.  You can explain your fitness goals to the trainer and then they can show you the best way to achieve them.  A fitness trainer should also help you stay motivated, show you where you are going wrong and lead you down the right path, making it more likely that you will achieve your targets.</p>
<p>When choosing a fitness trainer there are a number of factors you should consider.  A good fitness trainer should be able to provide success stories from their past which prove their credentials.  You should also look at their qualifications to measure how well trained they are.  Finally, you should arrange a meeting with a number of fitness trainers and see which ones match your personality.</p>
<p>As you can see there are plenty of options available to you if you want to improve your fitness levels.  Although I have given you the advice you have to take that first step and implement fitness training into your daily routine.  Choose whichever ideas you think are best for you and get started.  The sooner you begin to take action, the sooner you will start to see results.</p>

<p>In today&#8217;s world fitness is most important and bodybuilding is one way to achieve it. Fitness is not only reducing weight and being slim, but, it is something more than th<span id="more-411"></span>at. It means leading a life that is healthy and with a body that everyone would love to look at.</p>
<p>Through bodybuilding we can be any person that we want to be. This is because bodybuilding needs proper and nutritious diet and you will be fitter than you imagined. That is the effect that bodybuilding has on a person committed to it. You must have a well balanced diet that gives you all the nutrients that can build the body. So, eat nutritious foods.</p>
<p>Consuming nutrient rich foods will make the body healthy and resistive towards diseases. Our workout will involve lot of proteins and carbohydrates. People who workout knows that the energy spent in workout can be compensated through proper and nutrient rich foods.</p>
<p>Your work out should be concentrated on those exercises and weight lifts that develop certain muscle groups and some muscles as well. These muscles become shaped when they are toned by bodybuilding. Hence, the statement ‘body can be fit only through bodybuilding’ is very well justified&#8230;</p>
<p> Your workout schedules must be defined and your workout routines must contain constant exercises like weightlifting. The exercises must target a specific group of muscles, and it must be helpful to a particular muscle also. As soon as you start to develop those muscles, they start becoming very well shaped and fit. <p> The 2009 Honda Fit has been completely and totally redesigned for 2009. It is a bit longer and wider than last year&#8217;s model with added interior space, enhanced seating functionality, a more powerful engine, sharper handling, and a higher emphasis on safety. It is Honda&#8217;s smallest car with an innovative-upgraded interior and fun-to-drive character. </p>
<p> The Fit is available with a long list of standard safety equipment<span id="more-392"></span> to multiple seat configurations and ample storage room. With all these attributes, the Fit comes across as a good choice when fluctuating fuel prices, environment concerns and economic uncertainty are hogging the limelight. In all, the <em>2009 Honda Fit</em> has all that most people actually need from their cars. </p>
<p> <strong>What’s new for the 2009 Honda Fit?</strong> </p>
<p> For 2009, the Honda Fit sports a new, more upscale and driver-friendly exterior design and an improved interior comprising better materials and seats. The second row seats now can be folded in multitude of ways. However, the deletion of the &#8220;refresh&#8221; mode as one of the possible configurations and the addition of a secret compartment at the seat bottom can be noticeable. </p>
<p> <strong>2009 Honda Fit Model lineup</strong> </p>
<p> The <a rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" rel="external nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.autousa.com/research/honda_fit">2009 Honda Fit</a> is available in two models with three trim variations, Fit, Fit Sport and Fit Sport with Navi. The main differences among these trims and variants are around equipment and technology upgrades. The Fit Sport has one-inch larger wheels, and the Fit Sport with Navi includes satellite navigation and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA). </p>
<p> The Fit comes with features 15-inch wheels, black side mirrors, a five-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed automatic transmission, telescoping steering wheel, auxiliary input jack for your iPod, MP3/WMA playback and 160-watt stereo with four speakers. </p>
<p> The Fit Sport comes with larger wheels, a sporty front bumper, body-colored side mirrors, keyless entry, leather-wrapped steering wheel, USB connectivity, a driver side armrest, map lights, a five-speed automatic or five-speed automatic transmission with sport mode and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. </p>
<p> The Fit Sport with Navi sports a manual transmission or five-speed automatic with paddle shifters. The Fit Sport with Navi adds satellite navigation and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA). </p>
<p> Front, side airbags and side curtain airbags are standard safety features on all Fit trims. </p>
<p> <strong>2009 Honda Fit Exterior and interior</strong> </p>
<p> Honda has retained the Fit fresh, giving it a redesign after two years of its debut in North America thereby making an effort to stay ahead of increasing competitors like the Nissan Versa and Scion xD. </p>
<p> With sharply styled headlights, larger front quarter windows and a more aerodynamic front design, the Fit sports a new functional and attractive style for 2009. These enhancements contribute towards making the Fit the most appealing car in its class. A wider stance, more aggressive fender flares and sharper character lines along the side are some other design changes that are new for 2009. </p>
<p> The in-dash cup holders and split glovebox are highpoints, though both upper and lower boxes are too small to be of much use. Space inside the cabin ranges is almost-spacious, particularly for a car this size. However, a noisy and thrashy ride, slightly numb steering and a small (split) glovebox are some backdrops. </p>
<p> The critical elements of the interior have been improved considerably to ensure that the awesome utility of this little car is intact. The new front seats now accommodate taller passengers. The materials used are sufficiently ample and durable. The center stack bears the easiest layout &#8211; the large knobs that control the environment and settings curve around the stereo controls on the driver&#8217;s side, making the design stylish and easy to reach. However, the plastic controls are a bit thin to the touch. </p>
<p> Honda claims that if the rear seat is folded flat, the Fit can provide 57.3 cubic feet of cargo space. Actually, this figure is considerably more than that of the 41.9 cubic feet of last year&#8217;s model. </p>
<p> <strong>2009 Honda Fit Driving impressions</strong> </p>
<p> The Fit delivers better performance from its 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine. The upgraded chassis and suspension components have resulted in the overall improved ride and handling experience. The fuel efficient Fit delivers an EPA-estimated 27/33 mpg city/highway. The 1.5-liter engine delivers 117-horsepower at 6600 rpm and 106 pound-feet of torque at 4800 rpm. </p>
<p> The 2009 Honda Fit gets better in terms of driving and with new seats and suspension changes, offers comfortable conveyance and is fun for everyday driving. </p>
<p> The manual transmission or automatic with paddle shifters increases the fun by allowing drivers to dip down into the vehicle&#8217;s torque band when needed. On twisty corners, it provides more fun, and almost as efficient as the Scion xD or Nissan Versa. Most of the time, the rear of the car nicely follows the front with a new improved electric steering set up. The clutch and throw play on the manual transmission is easy to manipulate and gives a lot of fun to operate. <strong>2009 Honda Fit Modifications and Parts</strong> </p>
<p> The Honda Fit is one of the more popular Honda models, and offers a great platform for modification and aftermarket parts. Some of the popular upgrades are to swap in a K20A2 engine from an <a rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" rel="external nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.autousa.com/acura_cars">Acura RSX Type S</a>, or a K20Z3 from a <a rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" rel="external nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.autousa.com/research/honda_civic">Honda Civic Si</a>. <p>The average American&#8217;s weight goes up and fitness levels go down in middle age. But being average in the area of middle age fitness is a dangerous business &#8211; it can put you at significantly higher risk of illness and even death.</p>
<p>The largest-ever long-term study of physical fitness change in United Stated clearly illustrated the correlation between aging, weight, and fitness. The study monitored over 2,000 men and women at four research sites across the United States<span id="more-406"></span>, starting when the participants were 18 to 30 years of age. The participants’  fitness levels were tracked for twenty years as they moved from young adulthood into middle age.</p>
<p><strong>Fitness and activity levels plunge as age increases …. while weight and risk factors soar</strong></p>
<p>As the moved from young adulthood into middle age, their physical activity dropped by an average 18 percent. This change set off an alarming domino effect: by the end of the study the participants’ physical fitness levels had declined by an average 28 percent and their weight increased by an average 20 percent. According to the researchers, these changes put the participants at significantly greater risk of illness and death.</p>
<p>The study unmistakeably indicated the importance of staying physically active as we grow older. The head researcher noted that though we can’t control aging, our level of physical activity definitely is something we can control. And the degree to which we do maintain fitness in middle age can play an enormous role in determining our health and well-being for the rest of our lives.</p>
<p><strong>Mid-life fitness clearly shown to reduce risk factors</strong></p>
<p>In recent years science has shown that a host of natural aging-related changes once considered inevitable can be reduced, delayed, or offset by maintaining a healthy weight and moderate-to-high physical activity level. Slowing of the metabolism, loss of muscle tone and bone density, reduced flexibility, and even cardiac ailments and irregularities have all been shown to respond dramatically to a regular regimen of increased physical activity. Higher levels of fitness also correspond to lower incidence of non-insulin dependent diabetes, osteoprosis, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease.</p>
<p>And it’s not just the body that benefits from middle age fitness &#8211; it also significantly reduces the risk of dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease, depression and other mood disorders.</p>
<p>Fortunately it seems it really is never too late to start. A regular regimen of physical activity leads to increased fitness at any age, resulting in remarkably positive physical and mental health improvements in even the very old.</p>

<p>I recently received a call from a client in Dallas who noticed that one of the local stores is installing the Retul 3D Motion Capture System and wondered if it was better than the fitting she received from KGS Bikes. The explanation is a little more involved than a Q&amp;A question so I decided to bump my scheduled ezine article for this one.</p>
<p>The KGS Fitting System, those by Serotta, WobbleNaught, Carmichael, Specialized, Cyfac, Body Scan, Fit Kit and others, use a proc<span id="more-390"></span>edural system that gets a specific outcome and these may or may not even use the data generated by a motion capture system.</p>
<p>Retul has become the gold standard in fitting tools in the past 18 months. The reason I say it is a fitting tool is that Retul can be used with any fitting system. It is 3D Motion Capture System that can accurately measure sensor points which are attached to rider or are indexed to a bicycle.</p>
<p>Retul has a competitor in Dartfish, which is a 2D motion capture system that I own. I am planning on purchasing Retul to augment my fitting services so here is an explanation of how I deal with fitting systems and motion capture systems. The crosshair laser that I use to measure bicycles is another reference tool that is independent of the fitting system. It helps to separate the two as there is overlap and thus room for confusion.</p>
<p>Fitting Systems &#8211; KGS vs others. Many of the fitting systems on the market today feature equations or benchmarks that a rider should use to calculate the best way to fit a bicycle. Fit Kit is one of the earlier systems that use a plumb line to determine Knee Over Pedal Spindle, WobbleNaught uses 33 different measurement points of the rider and the bike to get a computer generated setup for that individual rider and that individual bike. Carmichael uses angles and geometry to assure that an individual is set up within an acceptable range of angles on the bike. Serotta and others use a combination of measurements and riding on either the owner’s bike or a setup bike.</p>
<p>What separates the KGS Fitting System from the others are two specific processes:</p>
<p>1) I have developed a system of finding the best, most efficient and balanced position for an individual using my custom setup bike, through scientific analysis using a step by step approach to find that perfect setup whether the rider is young or old, fit or unfit.</p>
<p>2) The use of a setup bike with a power meter, that is 100% infinitely adjustable and capable of producing the workload that you as the rider really produce on the road, is critical. My system determines a proper bike setup, rather than a setup based on the limitations of a specific bike.</p>
<p>Fitting Tools &#8211; Setup bike. The setup bike was just described and is the core of my fitting system. It has road, mountain and time trial handlebars, different saddles, adjustable cranks from 150-230 mm and almost all modern pedal systems. Since the bottom bracket is the datum point, every other conceivable position is determined by the location of the saddle and handlebars. Since all riders interface with the bike in exactly the same place, (pedals, handlebars and saddle), if the setup bike is able to be positioned to find the rider&#8217;s best position it can be found, documented and repeated.</p>
<p>The setup bike is not the system any more than one&#8217;s bike on a trainer would be. In fact, my system is good enough to find the perfect setup even if it would be difficult to build a real bicycle with those specifications. This is because I don&#8217;t assume that the bicycle industry has created a stock frame for you, I assume nothing. When we get through the fitting process we know exactly how to build a frame that is perfect for you, or to specify a stock frame that works with your body.</p>
<p>Cross hair laser &#8211; This fitting tool is what I use to accurately measure the handlebars and saddle relative to the bottom bracket. These lasers do nothing but project two lines into space, but the accuracy attainable from this device is fantastic.</p>
<p>Dartfish Advanced Video Analysis &#8211; I bought the Dartfish software and used it with my fittings for a few years but found that the only thing that really worked well was the ability to show ankle placement and the time it took to show the client problems was better spent in showing a solution rather than highlighting the problem. Dartfish is a great tool and some clients can benefit from it but most are better off letting me show them how to get better form rather than see how bad their form is in the first place.</p>
<p>Retul &#8211; The Retul system is a 3D motion capture system. The reason I am getting one is the ability to capture the fitting session and not only save that data but analyze it with other setup data. I have the ability now to get people setup properly on the bike. That is not the point. Having a system that gives me better resolution of all the aspects of a rider&#8217;s position and being able to save it is important. Another part of the Retul system is a sensor that can be triggered when it touches parts of the bike so the critical dimensions of the setup bike can be captured more quickly and with the same accuracy that I use now. I can save a few minutes doing documentation which usually means I get more time to spend helping the client with specific problems.</p>
<p>In summary, a bad fitter will not do a significantly better job with Retul. All the fitting procedures and knowledge that the fitter used prior to the acquisition of Retul are used after the device is purchased so many bike shops are still stuck with the age old discovery: Bike fitting is not easy.</p>
<p>It has taken me years of study to get really good at bike fitting and I still learn things every day. I feel lucky to have a studio that I can use to really do a client some good. I can&#8217;t speak for other shops and studios, but I work not only hard but as smartly as I can to put the client first and get an awesome outcome. I can&#8217;t wait to get my own Retul system but the fact that I just have my knowledge, skills and setup bike means that current fit clients will get what they want and need, which is a custom setup that works for them.</p>
<p>At the end of the day, I still find a lot of stock bikes don&#8217;t fit grownups well. It is irritating as I have a lot of educating to do when people find out that it is not they that are abnormal, but the bike they want to buy that may not be the one for them.</p>
