Many obese or over weight people at some point or the other in their lives find out that they are suffering from serious diseases like diabetes, high cholesterol levels. These diseases are life threatening and being obese or over weight is the prime reason for contracting these diseases. Losing weight and leading a healthy lifestyle is the only way to control and minimize the adverse effects of this life threatening diseases. Here are a few effective ways, which should be practiced religiously in an effort to control excess weight.

One should have light meals at regular intervals during the day. The long idle time between breakfast, lunch and dinner should be supplemented with light snacks. Having these light snacks at regular intervals, ensure that the metabolism of the body gets the required amount of energy for burning fat during the day. Also the regular eating habit will ensure that there is not deposition of fat inside the body, and the body is burning its fat content to provide energy for the body to combat the rigors of the daily hardships.

Eating correctly and the right kind of food are very important. The food intake should be high on essential vitamins required by the body and low on calories and carbohydrates. Eating raw vegetables and salads without dressings is the ideal food type that should be included in the diet intake of the over weight people.

Fluids intake especially water is one of the most important tool which helps in keeping the weight under check. One should at least drink 8 – 10 glasses of water in a day. Having lots of water gives a feeling of fullness to the individual who will then avoid eating harmful junk food at irregular time and also helps in maintaining the fluid content preventing dehydration.

An active lifestyle ensures a check on weight. Individuals must follow a proper exercise regime in order to keep in shape. Simply walking for about half n hour everyday for people who cannot take out time for exercise will help them in their effort of losing weight.

One should follow a schedule wherein they lose weight gradually. Sudden loss of weight is not good for the body and it also increases the chances of regaining the lost weight that much more. One should give enough time for the weight loss program to function and show gradual results. Any program which advocates sudden or drastic decrease in weight levels should be avoided.

It is always advisable to seek the help of experts before adopting any weight management program. This will help in selecting the program that is ideal for the body type and will also help the individual in knowing the correct way of implementing the plan.
