But if you struggle to lose weight then you need to dig deeper and try new ways to stay committed to your weight loss goal, gain all the right information for you, find ways to get motivated and build the proper support system.</p>

<p>My guess is if you didn&#8217;t want to lose weight you would not be reading this article. But saying you want to lose weight is just a small step to really committing to weight loss.</p>
<p>Increase your commitment by creating a personalized weight loss plan. Set a realistic goal, one that is something you can achieve and would be happy with. The goal can be in terms pounds, inches or body fat loss. Or it can even be by clothing size or the way you look in the mirror.</p>
<p>Make smaller goals that you can measure your progress by the week or month. Making smaller goals helps you stay focused and committed towards your long term goal. Plan for the week and go shopping for the foods you need and clear your schedule to allow time for your planned exercise routines.</p>
<p>Keep in mind that even the best made plans can change as life will give you the unexpected. Don&#8217;t let a missed day of exercising or eating right throw you off track. Shrug it off and keep on going with your plan and make adjustments if needed.</p>

Be sure you don&#8217;t reduce calories too low or you will cause your metabolism to slow down and you run the risk of actually gaining weight.</p>

<p>If only we could buy motivation in a can we would be all set to lose the weight. Unfortunately motivation cannot be bought and is at times very difficult to find. Try looking for that certain something or someone that inspires you to stay with your weight loss and keep you motivated.</p>
<p>Try motivating yourself using a reward system. You can reward yourself with whatever you want but try to stay away from food as a reward. Use a calendar and place stickers or stars when you reach a goal or had a good week. Although this may seem like you are back in school, it is a visual reminder of how well you are doing. When you hit a significant goal treat yourself to a night out with your friends and family.</p>
<p>If you hit a weight loss plateau and feel like giving up, motivate yourself by looking back at your progress to see how far you have come. Remind yourself that plateaus are just part of the journey and to stick with it. Eventually you will come off the plateau and be on the losing end of things again. Try mixing up your exercise routine or change and add different foods to push past the weight loss plateau.</p>

Even if you don&#8217;t think you are a creative person, write something down that you can relate to and get motivated by. Post it where you can read it everyday. <p>In this article, we&#8217;ll examine why these plateaus happen and how to avoid getting discouraged and giving up on your diet plan. It&#8217;s the kind of weight loss information everyone embarking on a diet should be aware of.</p>
<p>Why You Stop Losing Weight</p>
<p>Have you set realistic goals? Studies show that it&#8217;s almost impossible to lose more than one or two pounds a week. So don&#8217;t be disappointed if it isn&#8217;t melting off faster than that.</p>

<p>   6. Did I eat more calories early in the day and less later on?</p>
<p>   7. Did I say no to after-dinner munching?</p>
<p>   8. Did I exercise today?</p>
<p>   9. Did I stay away from the scale?</p>
<p>Why is #9 such an important piece of weight loss information? Weighing yourself too frequently is discouraging so limit weigh-ins to once a week. Even so, your weight may fluctuate. But that&#8217;s no reason to conclude the diet isn&#8217;t working. There are many other reasons for up and down weight: constipation, large meals, drinking water before a weigh-in, water retention, wearing different clothing for weigh-ins, illness, hormones, and plain old cheating on the diet.</p>

It&#8217;s because our bodies don&#8217;t like change and try to keep body weight static.</p>
<p>Another startling nugget of weight loss information: fat cells never go away. You can only make them smaller or bigger. And they resist shrinkage! This is another reason you may have hit a plateau.</p>
<p>But just remember, plateaus don&#8217;t last forever. They are temporary hurdles thrown in your path by a physiology that doesn&#8217;t like change. But you can change it.</p>

<p>   1. Increase the protein in your meals, eating cheese and nuts for snacks.</p>
<p>   2. Keep carbs down by avoiding white flour, sugar and starchy veggies like corn and potatoes.</p>
<p>   3. Eat frequent small meals that contain protein but very little fat.</p>
<p>   4. Increase activity level and make it more rigorous.</p>
<p>   5. Drink more water.</p>
<p>   6. Don&#8217;t eat within 3 hours of going to bed, especially high carb foods.</p>
<p>   7. Reduce daily calorie intake but don&#8217;t go below 1000 as this affects metabolism.</p>
<p>These plateau breakers are a short term plan and shouldn&#8217;t be used continuously. Use them for a few days and then return to your regular program for weight loss.</p>

<p>Once you start a weight loss plan or a new diet you will probably find that for the first two to three weeks your weight loss plan worked quite dramatically, weight was dropping off you as the plan promotion said it would; but then you hit the wall.</p>
<p>This isn&#8217;t uncommon as many people find that this will happen every time they start a new weight loss plan; most diets and plans are sold on the premise that you will see quick and emphatic weight loss and this is becau<span id="more-207"></span>se ALL diets do have this effect. As the body adjusts to a lower calorie intake it still continues to burn calories at the older higher level; result: weight loss.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, weight loss plans generally have great results in the short term and the reason for this is that your body adjusts to survive on the reduced calorie intake and at that the point the body has adjusted and will stop losing weight.</p>
<p>When you reach this point, it is generally known as the weight loss plateau, the only way to counter this effect is to alter your lifestyle; changes to eating habits and the type of foods you eat on a regular basis and of course, regular exercise.</p>

<p>The problem is if they go back to how they were eating previously, prior to starting their weight loss plan, they will probably become heavier than they were before they started as their body has to adapt yet again, but this time to a higher calorie intake. This normally means that a rapid weight gain replaces a rapid weight loss.<br />
That is why you need to find a weight loss plan that not only helps you lose weight quickly but also will help you lose weight continuously until your target weight is reached.</p>
<p>Most weight loss plans probably consist of the same types of food eaten daily and possibly the same type of exercise routine. The problem is that our bodies are smart and they naturally go into survival mode by adapting to burn fewer calories in order to make the energy reserves, stored in the body, last longer.<br />
In order to go beyond this point, you must change the way you eat and exercise, a complete lifestyle turnaround.</p>
<p>Here are a couple of methods that will help you move off the weight loss plateau and continue with successful weight reduction.</p>
<p>1. Never lower your calorie intake to a point where the body stops burning calories altogether, it can and will happen. You need to find foodstuffs that you can eat as much of as you like, that will take more calories to digest than they actually contain. These are commonly known as &#8216;negative&#8217; calorie foods.
